Aamir Khan’s much awaited movie ‘Dangal’ has finally hit the screens and people are already speculating about its success. His film ‘PK’ set new records as the highest grossing movie and expectations are that ‘Dangal’ will do the same. Apparently, trade analysts predict so too.

After PK started the 300 crore club, it is expected that this biopic will break all records and reach the Rs 400 crore mark. Aamir started this tradition with his ‘Ghajini’ becoming the first movie to garner Rs 100 crore, ‘3 idiots’ earning Rs 200 crore followed by PK’s 300 crore. It is easy to expect it to introduce a new 400 crore club to Bollywood as the movie had 40% more advanced bookings than other films released this year.
As for the opening day figures Dangal failed to beat Sultan. Dangal had collected Rs 29.78 crores at the box office while Sultan made Rs 36.54 crores on day 1. In Oversea Dangal so far grossed $1.7 million so far and this dream run expected to continue for next couple of weekends due to the holiday season.
Aamir’s ‘Dangal’ will have to replace Salman Khan starrer ‘Sultan’, another film centred on wrestling, to be at the top as the highest grosser of 2016. ‘Dangal’ is a biopic that follows the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and shows how he trains his two daughters into wrestling champions.
