The immersive experience of watching an Avatar movie takes us into a world which mesmerizes us with its beauty. Creating such magic wouldn’t have been possible without the VFX artists who worked for years. However, a new move by these artists could potentially delay the next Avatar film.
The VFX artists for the next Avatar film are taking a vote to unionize. This is the first time that vendor-side VFX artists are planning to unionize in Hollywood. Workers in the VFX department have been historically ignored from all the unions in which other workers like camera operators, makeup artists, editors are part of.
The things that are going to be the priority discussion for the group are affordable healthcare, sustainable benefits and wage. Although the move has been appreciated by many fans who believe they deserve the right to do so, it might lead to uncertainties at the Studio.
Some of the fans expressed their concern that this might delay the production of the movie and it might miss its 2025 deadline. The Hollywood strikes brought the film industry to a standstill for months and therefore studios can no longer afford to face anything at that level.
