The Barbie effect doesn’t seem to be settling down anytime soon. The fourth Greta Grewig directorial crossed the $1 Billion mark on the global box office in just over three weeks.
The movie owes its enormous popularity to its ensemble cast, Grewig’s marvelous portrayal of the pink world and Barbenheinmer.
The battle against Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy in the titular role, proved to be profitable for both the movies, as it created a massive buzz around Barbenheinmer. Barbie had already broken down records with its preview shows for 2023.
Barbie opened at #1 on the US box office and has maintained its position since. It has become the second highest grossing movie of 2023. The Super Mario Bros. stands on the top with a collection of $1.3 Billion. Moreover, It’s the highest grossing movie by a female director ever. It’s accolades also include the highest opening for a toy based movie and the highest opening for a non-sequel.
