Who doesn’t like a good rom com in this scorching heat of summer? And if we get a good drama thriller with sports in it, then it will be a cherry on top.
Well the wait is over, because “Challengers” is here to lighten up your summer.
Amazon MGM’s romantic sports drama Challengers opened with estimated $15,011,078 domestically from 3477 locations. Zendaya in the leading role, won everyone’s heart. Her back to back hits are ranking her on top of the list.
For a R rated movie, this is the second-highest opening, according to the sources the budget of this movie was more than $50 million.
Luca Guadagnino’s movies are usually great compared to its domestic appeal, but the Zendaya factor made it grand, the 27 years old actress stamped her name in the history of Hollywood with roles like Rue from “Euphoria”, MJ as Marvel’s Spider-man and the biggest hit of this year up until now as Chani in Legendary’s Dune Part Two.
Dune practicality gave Her and Timothee Chalamet as well, a much needed career boost.
But Challengers being a love triangle worked pretty great on its opening week, but having such a vast list of love triangles in Hollywood it’s pretty hard to say whether it’ll stay on top of the list or not.
The plot revolves around Art and Patrick who are best friends and both of them are Tennis rivals. Their good bond keeps a healthy rivalry between them. Things get heated when Art and Patrick both fall for one tennis prodigy, Tashi Duncan.
Their healthy rivalry turns to a cut edge one, when both of them start impressing Tashi, but soon after when three of them spend a night together, things take a wrong turn. As Patrick and Tashi became a couple, Tashi faced a career threatening accident, which put her out of the game, but Art took the chance and asked her to be his couch, which turned into a blossoming bond.
The movie is filled with twists and turns making it an absolute fun to watch.
