The movie made $24.8 million and an estimated $31 million over the weekend. It was the worst holiday weekend in almost thirty years. The movie’s worldwide total of $58.9 million was boosted by $33.3 million from 75 nations, indicating that it was also unsuccessful in drawing in foreign viewers.
Particularly when they lack the original stars, prequels frequently fall short of direct sequels in terms of box office performance.The movie opened with $45 million and went on to make $380 million, although it wasn’t a huge blockbuster at the box office.
The prequel failed to go beyond its main group of older male moviegoers, despite having a female heroine. Once the dust settles, it will be interesting to see if “Furiosa” can draw in a larger audience.
