Disney Follows Netflix To Hire High Paying AI Jobs

Disney AI ManagersIf someone ever decides to write a history book on ‘Messing Up’, the streaming giants will undoubtedly play a significant role in it. How else can you explain their audacity to hire AI specialists amidst a writers and actors strike? Netflix was the first, offering a staggering $900,000 for the post of an AI product manager, and now others are following suit.

Disney is now publicly following Netflix’s footsteps and facing a massive backlash. As the strike continues, serious concerns regarding the usage of artificial intelligence have been raised.

Recently, Bryan Cranston delivered a strong speech emphasizing the concerns of artists and targeting Disney, but it seems to have had no effect. Currently, Disney has open positions focused on AI and machine learning across the country, and the title “Imagineering” adds salt to the wound.

They even listed a job for $180,000 for an R&D Imagineer who will evaluate, adopt, and integrate the latest generative AI. This was one of half a dozen AI-related jobs listed by Disney.

Even studios like Amazon and Apple have dozens of openings in the AI and ML sectors. And Sony didn’t stay behind in the AI craze as Sony AI America is now a reality, also searching for an AI ethics engineer.

From a business perspective, trying to avoid machine learning and artificial intelligence will lead to a tough road ahead. As all companies are inclining towards this new era of creation, avoiding this wave of renovation will leave you behind.

Although on paper, the usage of AI brings productivity and is good for small tasks, on the ground level, it may kill the spirit of entertainment. The SAG-AFTRA and writers’ guild strike are living examples of that.
