New Pixar Animation Set for Success: $50M BO Opening?

Hoppers Pixar film 2026 scene

Pixar’s new original film Hoppers will release in U.S. theatres on March 6, 2026. The sci fi comedy is directed by Daniel Chong. It follows a 19 year old girl named Mabel whose mind is transferred into a robotic beaver through advanced technology.

As Mabel adapts to her new form, she discovers a hidden animal community. The peaceful habitat faces danger from human development. The film blends humour, adventure and environmental themes. It marks another fresh original venture from Pixar Animation Studios.

Early box office projections estimate an opening between 40 and 50 million dollars domestically. Trade analysts see strong potential for a solid debut weekend. Initial reviews have been largely positive. This response has helped build momentum ahead of release.

The film’s performance holds significance for Pixar. Recent original titles have faced tougher competition compared to sequels. In contrast, Inside Out 2 became a massive box office success. It also enjoyed a theatrical run of more than 100 days.

Like other Pixar films under The Walt Disney Company, Hoppers will later arrive on streaming. Recent originals have debuted on Disney+ around 89 days after theatrical release. This pattern has become standard for the studio’s content strategy.

If the same timeline continues, Hoppers may begin streaming in early June 2026. Before that, digital purchase options are expected around 60 days after release. That would likely place its digital debut in early May.

The length of its theatrical run will depend on box office performance. A strong performance could extend its cinema presence. Average earnings may result in a faster transition to home viewing platforms. Much will depend on audience reception in the first few weeks.
