Colleen Hoover’s bestselling and controversial novel ‘It Ends With Us’ is all set to hit the screens on 9th August. It has been creating headlines long before the trailer dropped or even the poster was released.
Now that the trailer, poster and dates have been finalized, Hoover’s fans could not keep the calm. The movie is trending all over social media, the casts have upset many while some are rejoicing with Blake Lively as Lily but it is general consensus that the male leads are not what the ‘booktok’ or ‘bookstagram’ users have pictured in their minds.
A new poster has been released featuring only Blake Lively as Lily. It is a close-up of Blake’s side profile with pink flowers. She, as usual, looks ethereal in it.
Book adaptations bring a sort of expectation and anticipation that many directors have failed to fulfill barring a few who did far better than the author. Actor and director Justin Baldoni would prefer to be in the latter given the hype because if he misses, the fans of the book may not forgive him. It is crucial for him from the acting point of view too, because he is playing the role of Ryle Kincaid, one of the lead roles in the movie.
Not many actors direct and act in their movies, especially in the lead role. Even if they do only a handful succeed, like Ben Affleck in ‘Argo’ or Bradley Cooper in ‘A Star Is Born’.
It will be a test of quality, popularity and talent and it all depends on the movie’s critical and commercial success.
