“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain,” this popular phrase is perfectly fitting for Nicholas Hoult and his recent activity. Previously, he was in talks to play the role of Superman, but David Corsenswet was later confirmed for the role.

So, Hoult took the matter into his own hands, joined the dark side, and is now in talks to play the villain opposite Superman – Lex Luthor.

He has been associated with several DC projects and has fallen just short of being part of the on-screen past. It’s not just Superman; Hoult was also in talks with the makers to play the role of Batman as well.

In the game of DC’s musical chairs, Bradley Cooper was also close to playing the role of the evil mastermind, as Gunn reportedly discussed it with him during the press tour of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Following esteemed actors like Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and Jesse Eisenberg, Hoult steps into the villainous legacy. Hoult definitely has some big shoes to fill. Jesse Eisenberg played the most recent version of the evil mastermind and was spectacular in his role.

As casting progresses, speculation surrounds roles like Ma and Pa Kent, Jor-El, and a potential appearance by General Sam Lane, with Michael Rooker rumored for the latter.
