The animated short “The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story” from Sony Pictures Animation will be available on March 27. The short film centres on Miles Morales, a.k.a. Spider-Man, who finds it difficult to juggle his obligations as a student, friend, teenager, and Spider-Man. Miles discovers during a panic attack that asking for assistance can sometimes be just as courageous as defending his city from harm.
The Kevin Love Fund has partnered with Jarelle Dampier, the filmmaker of “The Spider Within,” to release the film digitally. The film is included into the fund’s new mental health-focused lesson plan, “The Hero Within.” Through an engaging curriculum and imaginative storyboard exercise, the movie enables students to express their personal stories and raise awareness of mental health issues.
“The Spider Within” seems like a love letter to Miles Morales and can inspire friends and family to have more in-depth discussions about their personal battles with mental health.
Kevin Love, the creator of KLF and a professional basketball player as well as mental health advocate, hopes that the short video will convey to everyone—especially young people—that their emotions are normal and that they are not travelling alone.
