Steven Spielberg will be directing new original film which is scheduled for release in 2026. The movie is being supported by Universal Pictures and is being referred to as a “new original event film.”
The movie is supposedly about a UFO incident. David Koepp is penning the script. He has written screenplays for blockbusters such as “Jurassic Park,” “War of the Worlds,” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Three-time Oscar winner Steven Spielberg has directed hits including “Jaws” and “E.T.”
“The Fabelmans” and “West Side Story,” two of Spielberg’s most recent films, have not made over $100 million at the box office. Inspired by Spielberg’s own childhood, “The Fabelmans” depicted an adolescent movie buff.
Against a $100 million budget, “West Side Story” made $76 million worldwide. Spielberg might take back his throne as the master of summer blockbusters once theatres start to reopen.
