The Marvel Creative Universe is losing its hold on the Box office that it once commanded. The production company has been running on a tried and tested concept that has made them good money so far. The latest release from the universe, The Marvels, had a terrible run in the second weekend.
The Marvels managed to earn only $10.2M in the domestic box office in the second weekend of the release. The Marvels was released on the 10th of November 2023. Ever since the release, it hasn’t been able to impress with the collections. The Marvels is a high budget movie and the movie is still far from breaking even.
The second weekend collection of the film saw a 78% drop in ticket sales. The movie hasn’t been appreciated by the Marvel fans as much as the filmmakers would have wanted. The plot seems to get lost somewhere in its attempt to be the sequel of both Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel.
The Marvels has a total budget of $274.8 million. So far it has managed to collect only $161.3 million from worldwide collections. The performance of the movie at the Box office is below par and it should force the MCU to assess its formula.
