Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, the Hollywood superstar has come up as a super savior in real life with his huge donation to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. The charity is arranging financial relief for the 160,000 members of the union who are currently on strike.
The SAG-AFTRA strike has been going on strong. The president of the foundation had sent out letters to the highest earning members of the union, asking them to contribute to the Emergency Financial Assistance Program started by the foundation. Soon after the letter was sent, Dwayne responded by saying he wanted to help members in any way he could. The Rock stepped up to the occasion and reportedly donated an astonishing seven- figure amount. However the exact figure of the amount has not been revealed by the foundation.
It is the largest single donation from an individual that the foundation has received so far. The donation is big enough to help around 7000-10000 members. The union is excited about it and it is believed that this will encourage others to come up and support in whatever capacity they can. The symbolic message of solidarity holds more importance for the strike as they strongly face the studios.
