MCU might be planning to expand its horizons. On one side where the MCU is changing its strategy by limiting the number of projects and making its tie in TV projects an easy side quest. However there are rumors that the MCU might just jump into the Gaming Arenas.
It is not new for marvel to have tie in video games. Back when Iron Man and Thor were released, they came out with a tie in game to “boost” the hype. This trend goes back even further, with Raimi Spider-man movies boasting tie ins. They indeed boosted the hype of the movie with the players indulging themselves for extra content of their beloved characters. However, the MCU has not been that lucky in this matter. With poor gameplay and identical storylines, no player batted an eye on these tie-ins.
Marvel would finally get some success in this field in the not so distant past, with the blowing up of INSOMNIAC’s SPIDER-MAN games. There are a number of mobile games currently active as of now. The latest entry in this area being MARVEL: RIVALS which is a first person shooter game and is getting fairly positive reviews from its player base.
Now that Marvel has a more fleshed out universe will they be able to fulfil the demands of the gamer community? There are other games making their debut as well. Like, Blade and MARVEL 1943: Rise Of Hydra. Or maybe the whole investment might just go down in flames. However, we can’t say anything until confirmation.
