Annecy Animation Festival saw the debut of Transformers One, starring Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, and Keegan Michael Key. The origin story of everyone’’s favorite transformer leader, Optimus Prime, and his arch nemesis, Megatron, is being loved and adored by the fans of the franchise. This certainly is a refreshing take on the characters, the lore of the transformers, and most importantly, the media.
When it was announced that the movie would be animated, many fans squinted their eyes, skeptical of what might be delivered. What we got was indeed a complete stylistic overhaul. Perhaps the best part of the movie is the lack of human characters, so that we can focus better on the story of the autobots and the war that ravaged their civilization.
Directed by the maker of the toy story 4, Josh Cooley, the Transformers are ready to bring back a whole lot of G1 nostalgia and connect the franchise to its roots. The extremely positive response that the movie is receiving at its test screening is a good enough indication of its oncoming success. Whether the movie is able to continue this wave of success or not, we will see as the movie is set to release on July 19.
