The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, directed by the acclaimed Wes Anderson, is currently developing The Phoenician Scheme, his upcoming picture. Berlin is the planned release city for the movie, which is supposedly based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Roman Coppola.
Regulars Bill Murray and Benicio Del Toro are among the cast members; Riz Ahmed has also joined the group. The official plot of Anderson’s most recent movie is still unknown.
Production on the movie was meant to begin last year, but it was delayed because of two strikes. There is no information available about Michael Cera’s or Ahmed’s category on the First-Time-Anderson-Actor list.
Filming is now taking place in Berlin. Anderson and Roman Coppola, who worked together on The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, are the film’s writers. At present, Anderson and Roman Coppola are directing the movie; the distributor has not yet been announced.
In a September 2023 interview with Deadline, Anderson dropped hints about the film, saying they had just wrapped up writing the screenplay for a movie starring Del Toro when the writers’ strike started.
