Barbie is beating Oppenheimer at the box office badly, although the collection of Oppenheimer is not bad per se; the collection of Barbie is almost double that of Oppenheimer.
But the question is, why?
There are several reasons behind this. Firstly, the promotional campaign of Barbie has been incredible. Never before have we seen such a great marketing strategy in recent years. The posters, the trailer, and the overall brand collaboration were groundbreaking. On the other hand, Oppenheimer’s promotional efforts were just average.
Secondly, the relatability and light theme of Barbie certainly appeal as a more entertaining option. Oppenheimer, on the other hand, is dark, disturbing, and serious. In short, Nolan’s film lacks the element of fun.
Thirdly, people are getting exactly what they expected from Oppenheimer, but they are pleasantly surprised by the story presented in Barbie.
Additionally, the ticket prices play a significant role in the audience’s choice between two good films. Barbie tickets are much more affordable than those of Oppenheimer.
All of these factors, among others, contributed to the box-office success of Barbie.
