“Challengers,” Zendaya’s drama about tennis, debuted well on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving a flawless 100% rating.
The Luca Guadagnino-directed movie was initially scheduled to open in theatres in September 2023, but the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike caused the release date to be pushed back.
Zendaya plays Tashi Donaldson in the film, a former tennis prodigy who turned coach and got caught up in a romantic triangle with her husband Art Donaldson. The WGA strike caused the movie’s release to be rescheduled for April 26, 2024.
The movie is deemed “Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, a well-known review aggregator website, if it gets more positive reviews than negative ones.
The American actress Zendaya disclosed, before her part in the upcoming film “Challengers,” that she knew very little about tennis. She talked about her passion for tennis in an interview highlighting Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Roger Federer.
Zendaya, who received training from Brad Gilbert, the former coach of Andre Agassi, acknowledged that learning the sport was a journey, with her feeling less like a pro one day and more like one the next.
