Taran Adarsh Critic AdipurushTaran Adarsh is considered the most reputed and leading Bollywood film critic. In his latest review, he completely slammed Prabhas’ latest release, Adipurush, directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series.

He tweeted about how disappointing it was to see India’s greatest epic being made in such a tasteless manner. He went on to say that the director made a colossal waste of the huge budget and also the dream star cast. He gave one and a half stars for the film.

Adipurush” is not a perfect film. It does have many flaws, but it certainly doesn’t deserve to be completely trashed with a one-star rating. “Adipurush” is an event film created with one of the highest budgets and significant efforts, which is evident on the screen. However, it’s important to note that despite its issues, it remains an event film. Additionally, films of this grand scale are not released every Friday or every quarter, which is why they tend to perform well despite their flaws. Audiences are willing to give them a try for the unique experience they offer.

Taran should have at least respected the intentions and efforts of the makers and shouldn’t have been so harsh.

However, Taran had to mince his words after the first day collections came out. He himself tweeted that Adipurush has taken a fantastic start at the box office ‘as expected’ and collected Rs. 37. 5 crores just in its Hindi version. He gave a commentary as if the collections came due to the hype and not because of the fact that the audience liked the content.

If the day one collections are ‘expected’ and driven by ‘hype’ as he tweeted, one would naturally wonder about the day two collections. If a film receives a one-star rating, one might expect it to crash before day two even begins, as we have seen happen with several major releases.

In the past also, Taran gave a 1-star rating to Brahmastra. But when the film turned out to be a surprise hit at the box office, he stopped reporting collections. He was heavily trolled for not reporting collections just to justify his negative review.

With Adipurush, the same scenario might repeat again, and he might stop reporting collections after the weekend.
