Going by the box office success rate, Bollywood is struggling to keep pace with South Indian cinema. South films are the dominant force at the Indian box office now.
For those who beg to differ, here’s a statistic pertaining to the total footfalls at theaters across the Hindi-speaking belts across the country.
With 26.93 million footfalls, KGF 2 tops the list comfortably. It also justifies the highest-grosser of the year status that the Yash starrer enjoys. This is the film with the highest footfalls in Hindi belt across the country and it isn’t even a Hindi film.
Then comes Bramhastra, Bollywood’s biggest outing of the year. It has 15.2 million footfalls in the Hindi segment and it’s not even remotely close to KGF 2.
Then there’s Rajamouli, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan’s RRR which has registered 14.25 million footfalls. This action thriller ran pretty close to mainstream Bollywood biggie Bramhastra.
Kashmir Files comes 4th with 14.21 million footfalls and Bhool Bhulaiyaa is 5th with 9.92 million. Adivi Sesh’s Major clocked 1.24 million.
