How did the big 4 families – Nandamuri, Mega, Akkineni, and Ghattamaneni fare in 2022 in terms of box office verdict? Here’s a look into it.
Nandamuri Family
Balakrishna signed off 2021 with a bang with Akhanda and Jr NTR followed it up with RRR in 2022. NTR shot to wide fame with the Rajamouli directorial. Then came Kalyan Ram with another box office winner – Bimbisara. Needless to say, the last 12 months and more so, 2022 has been a memorable year for Nandamuri clan.
Mega Family
Mega family started 2022 with Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak. The film catered to the masses. Then came Ram Charan with RRR, an epic blockbuster. Varun’s Tej’s Ghani was a huge disaster and his F3 with Venkatesh was a mixed bag. Acharya was a humiliating disaster. GodFather got decent reviews but underwhelmed at the box office. Ranga Ranga Marthanda was a disaster as well. Allu Sirish’s Urvashivo Rakshasivo was a non starter at the box office. 2022 has been a mixed bag for the Mega family.
Akkineni Family
Akkineni family got a decent start to 2022 with Bangarraju which garnered moderate reviews but had the Sankranthi advantage and posted decent revenues. Sumanth came with Malli Modalaindi which went nowhere at the box office. Naga Chaitanya’s Thank You was a mega disaster. Nagarjuna signed off 2022 with Ghost which is another disastrous addition to the list. 2022 has been unforgiving for Akkineni family.
Ghattamaneni Family
Youngster from Ghattamaneni family, Galla Ashok started 2022 with Sankranthi release – Hero. It didn’t have a notable run at the box office. Then came the main man Mahesh Babu with Sarkaru Vaari Paata which had summer release advantage and was an average farer at the box office. Then came Sudheer Babu with Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali which was a disaster at the box office.
Daggubati Family
Rana had Bheemla Nayak earlier this year and he shared the screen with Pawan Kalyan. This was his first mass film in a while. His another release Virata Parvam went unnoticed at the box office. Venkatesh came with F3 which also featured Varun Tej. This was an average farer at the box office.
Going by the success rate and box office credence, Nandamuri family had registered a good 2022 and if we have to pick a winner, it has to be them. Mega family had a mixed-to-poor bag, Ghattamaneni family had a below par year and so did the Akkineni clan.
