After an average year with fewer hits, the film industry is aiming to bounce back with some big projects in 2026. The last month of 2025 witnessed the arrival of Dhurandhar. The spy thriller is already creating records. The upcoming list is too long. But only time will tell who will eventually survive the longest.
Every title is creating hype for some reason. The tables might turn for those faces who are struggling to create an impact at the box office. Now the question is who would be on top and who will take over the position taken by the other one.
1) Ikkis
Sriram Raghavan is known only for thrillers. But this time he has selected something different. The Indian Army’s story can easily connect with everyone. This one is going to have a true story of a brave boy who achieved a lot at a very young age. It even features the late Dharmendra’s final appearance.
2) Mardaani 3
Female cops in the lead have not been so common in Bollywood. However, Aditya Chopra confidently approached the subject more than ten years ago with Rani Mukerji. It has led to two successful entries. The upcoming installment will have a dark tone. The experience will be more intense.
3) Dacoit
Adivi Sesh has built a bigger fan base after opting to play a hero. People cried after watching Major. People would get to see his new form in the action thriller. The same can be said for Mrunal Thakur. The plot remains a mystery. But it is expected to have many entertaining moments.
4) Alpha
Fictional spies have been a subject of criticism ever since the YRF Spy Universe was created. However, the single screens have still attracted huge crowds. This time, the makers are bringing only female characters overall to take down one bad guy. Time will tell whether the response will be the same.
5) Bhooth Bangla
Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar’s combination has created multiple cult classics. The latter is going through a bad phase with multiple flops. However, the horror comedy marks the return of those faces who have been a part of Priyadarshan’s films. The glimpses are hinting towards an experience similar to Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
6) Drishyam 3
A family unknowingly committed a mistake. The police department is trying its best to see that they are punished. But due to the intelligence of a common man, the head of the family, everyone has been safe for now. Let’s see whether the case will eventually come to a close this time. With the Malayalam and Telugu versions reportedly arriving in the same year, let’s see if it can repeat the success.
7) O Romeo
Vishal Bharadwaj has a record of not making commercial films for single screens. It seems like he is satisfied with the critical acclaim. This one marks another collaboration with Shahid Kapoor. The content is expected to be new, and the poster is also hinting at the same.
8) Battle of Galwan
Salman Khan is going through a very bad phase. While Sikandar flopped, fans are confident that his choices will change. He is working with Apoorva Lakhia. The first look has already created hype. With a big budget being invested and a patriotic theme, it remains to be seen if Bhaijaan will attract audiences this time.
9) Shakti Shalini
Dinesh Vijan was expecting to create records with Thamma. But that did not happen. However, the makers are not giving up as Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is planning to bounce back with Shakti Shalini. A new face, Aneet Padda, has been cast for the lead. The story will have supernatural elements.
10) King
Shah Rukh Khan has become a brand after two blockbusters. Siddharth Anand’s presentation in the teaser is already creating headlines. Moreover, the action is expected to be more intense and violent. Marking Suhana Khan’s big screen debut with an ensemble star cast, it has to be seen if crowds will turn up again.
11) Toxic
Rocking Star Yash is finally returning after a long break. The good thing about him is that he has been committed to one big project for all this time. The first looks are already coming out after the film suffered multiple delays. It has to be seen if new records will be created this time in the Hindi market with Kannada.
12) Cocktail 2
The original film became a surprise hit. The songs remain a chartbuster until today. A sequel has been planned for a long time. The formula is the same. A male lead, Shahid Kapoor. Glamour will play an important role with Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. It will be hard to repeat the success of the first one. Let’s see whether the follow-up will arrive on time.
13) Love & War
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s works have been a combination of the best visuals and storyline. He is expected to do the same with the upcoming period romance. With a talented star cast and several delays alongside a budget increase, SLB is supposed to bring a unique experience for the audience.
14) Dhurandhar 2
Ranveer Singh’s failures led to speculations that his time was over. But his new form in the latest spy thriller and director Aditya Dhar’s authenticity helped to bring big crowds for almost three weeks. The hype for the sequel is increasing every day. A big opening is guaranteed for now.
Apart from this list, there are many other small-budget projects in production. Multiple South Indian films are getting a pan-India release. All of them are being dubbed into various languages. However, not all of them are expected to do well at the box office.
On the other hand, the success of the normal films will entirely depend on the budget. For now, let’s see which one would be included in the list of the big blockbusters.
