Indian films have recently seen a rise in longer runtimes. Movies like Animal, Pushpa 2, and Dhurandhar have pushed the duration closer to four hours.
Now, Dhurandhar 2 is expected to take things even further. Reports suggest that a combined version of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2 could have a runtime of around 7 hours 30 minutes.
The makers are reportedly planning to merge both parts into a single extended version. This version is expected to release in selected premium formats like IMAX and HDR screens.
Such a long runtime could be a unique theatrical experiment in Indian cinema. However, it also raises questions about audience comfort and viewing practicality.
Sitting in a theatre for more than seven hours could be difficult for most viewers. It is being said that the film may have limited screenings, mainly during weekends.
Even with planned screenings, spending an entire day inside a theatre may not appeal to a wide audience. The idea challenges the usual movie-going experience.
Only hardcore cinema lovers and fans of the franchise may be willing to try this format. Even for them, staying engaged for such a long duration could be demanding.
It remains to be seen how audiences respond if this plan is officially confirmed. The experiment could either set a new trend or remain a rare attempt in Indian cinema.
