Fahadh Faasil’s latest Malayalam hit Aavesham is gearing up to premiere on Amazon Prime Video starting May 9th.
While blockbusters such as Manjummel Boys and Premalu took more than two months to make their OTT debut after their theatrical release, Aavesham is coming to OTT within 4 weeks while the film is still running in theaters.
Directed by Romancham fame Jithu Madhavan, the movie has garnered widespread acclaim, particularly for Fahadh’s stellar performance.
Fahadh’s portrayal of the quirky Bengaluru don has struck a chord with audiences, with his catchphrase “Eda Mone” gaining popularity among the audience.
However, the OTT audience is quite different from the theater audience.
Aavesham thrives on the energy of a theater crowd with its whistle-worthy moments. OTT viewers cannot experience that hysteria while watching it within the confines of their homes, on mobile or laptop screens. So there are chances that they might label the film as overrated and not that great.
It has become a fashion nowadays for a section of the OTT audience to criticize successful films as overrated. Recent examples are Premalu and Om Bheem Bush.
Aavesham is a movie that is theatrical material. Such movies are best suited to be enjoyed in theaters. It’ll be interesting to see how the OTT audience will react to it.
Whatever might be the response from the OTT audience, the fact remains that Aavesham is a blockbuster movie.
