Tamil actor Arya has been named in a police case registered by the Jubilee Hills Police in Hyderabad following allegations of unpaid dues related to the rental of high-end film production equipment.
According to the police, the complaint was filed by Javed Ali, an accountant representing Taher Cine Tek, a Hyderabad-based company that provides professional cameras, lighting systems, and other filmmaking equipment.
The complaint states that the company entered into an agreement on February 25 last year with the makers of the Tamil film Ananthan Kaadu. The production team, including actor Arya, producer Vinod, and representatives of the production house, allegedly assured the company that all rental charges would be cleared in full without any outstanding payments.
Based on these assurances, the company supplied advanced digital cameras, lighting units, and other production equipment for the film’s shoot. The equipment was transported from Hyderabad to Kerala at the company’s own expense.
The complainant alleged that although the production team used the equipment throughout the filming schedule, it failed to pay a significant portion of the agreed rental amount. Out of the total contractual payment of approximately Rs 2.12 crore, more than Rs 1.80 crore is said to remain unpaid.
The complaint further claims that the production team had acknowledged the pending dues in writing and promised to settle the entire amount before the film’s release. It was also reportedly agreed that a no-dues certificate would be obtained after clearing the payments. However, the company alleges that the commitment was never fulfilled.
Taher Cine Tek also stated that it made several attempts to recover the pending amount through letters, WhatsApp messages, and phone calls, but did not receive a satisfactory response. The complaint additionally alleges that the production team obtained interim relief from a court in Kerala by suppressing key facts related to the dispute.
In another allegation, the company claimed that its manager was threatened when he approached the production team regarding the outstanding payment. The complaint names producer Vinod, actor Arya, and Arya’s personal assistant Kishore in connection with the alleged intimidation.
Based on the complaint, Jubilee Hills Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Officials confirmed on Saturday that the matter is under investigation. The allegations remain subject to police inquiry, and no court has determined the claims at this stage.
