Akhil Akkineni’s Agent ended up as a colossal disaster at the box office. On the fourth day of its release, the producer Anil Sunkara came up with an apology cum explanation.
The glaring blunder in the explanation is the producer admitting to starting the project without a bound script. Agent is supposed to be the biggest opportunity for Akhil who is struggling for various reasons.

He devoted more than two years of time and toiled really hard to get the right physique for the film. After so much of hard work, the onus should be on Surender Reddy and Anil Sunkara to deliver a hit.
It is so irresponsible of Surender Reddy to start the project without a bound script and then make a complete mess of the project. The film started as a 40-45 Crore film and the budget almost got doubled.

Suri did not have control over anything – the budget, the working days, and even on the content. Even hours before the release, he is seen making changes to the film leaving the producer and US distributor in severe stress.
The day before the release, Surender Reddy was asking the producer if they can postpone the film.

We are talking about a director who is in the industry for more than a decade and worked with many stars. We do not know what he learned all this time.
And then, coming to the producer, Anil Sunkara has produced more than two dozen of films. There are certain things out of the control of a producer but if a regular and cash bag producer like Sunkara can not have things under control, that’s a bad thing to say for sure.
There is a certain degree of honesty in the apology but that should not hide the glaring blunder of ‘starting the project without a bound script’.
Sunkara lost big money. There is no denial. But his financial condition gives a certain cushion to bear that loss. So, Akhil will take away the biggest loss in this project.
Anil Sunkara is a big fan of Nagarjuna and he has shouldered the responsibility of giving a hit to Akhil. These lapses should have been avoided especially when a young chap’s future is at stake.
Failures like Agent will hurt big time. It will take a lot of time for the actors to come out of it. Vijay Deverakonda recently suffered due to Liger with similar problems. He is yet to wash off that mess and in all ways, he is at his lowest point of his career now due to Liger.
Akhil was pushed to such a dangerous position very early in his career and with many problems hurting him already. It’s like a game of Kabaddi with Akhil’s career. Hopefully, he will come out of this somehow.
On his part, Akhil should stop being so desperate. Doing films without bound scripts, just for the sake of action, star directors, will only yield this kind of results.
