Ajith Kumar’s next film Daredevil began its journey with a pooja ceremony today. The event was attended by cast members Sreeleela, Unni Mukundan, Sunil, Prabhu, Redin Kingsley and R. Parthiban, along with producer Shalini Ajith Kumar, director Adhik Ravichandran, music director Anirudh Ravichander and choreographer Kalyan. Ajith Kumar, however, was absent from the ceremony.
Beyond the pooja, the bigger question is what Adhik has planned for this combination. Their previous film, Good Bad Ugly, was largely built around Ajith’s star image, with fan references, elevation scenes and moments designed to celebrate his popularity. It gave fans plenty to enjoy, but Adhik has reportedly indicated that Daredevil will follow a different route.
The director is said to be exploring a different genre this time, with the aim of connecting with a wider audience. This makes the film an important test for him. Repeating the fan-focused formula might seem like an easy choice after Good Bad Ugly, but offering something fresh could help the combination reach beyond Ajith’s loyal fan base.
With the project now formally launched, the real challenge is for Adhik to prove that his combination with Ajith can deliver more than fan moments and star elevations.
