
Legendary actor, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee Akkineni Nageswara Rao has left a great heritage and legacy behind for us over his long career spanning seven decades. He had been part of many iconic classics and landmark films.

Celebrating his 100th birth anniversary, Indian Government has unveiled special postage stamp and also announced that a special chapter will be played at International Film Festival of India, IFFI Goa, later this year. Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Sanjay Jaju, made this announcement at the Devadas movie screening press event. He attended the event kick starting special film festival, “ANR100: King of Silver Screen”.
Along with him, Akkineni family members including Akkineni Nagarjuna, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, Akkineni Akhil, Sumanth, Sushanth have all attended the event. Before attending the event, Akkineni family members showcased their big and kind heart by inviting 600 senior fans, specially to Annapurna Studios.

They acknowledged the hardcore long time fans love and support towards their family. They ate lunch with them and presented them with clothes as a sign of their gratitude.
At the event, K. Raghavendra Rao and Murali Mohan participated as special guests. National Award winning writer Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad anchored the event and he shared lesser known titbits about ANR’s philanthropic activities. He stated how ANR was instrumental in establishing college in Gudivada and how he helped many students to graduate.

K. Raghavendra Rao remembered his close association with ANR and stated that he would always be proud for directing both ANR, Akkineni Nagarjuna in Sri Ramadasu. Murali Mohan shared how big a fan he used to be and then talked about ANR’s commitment to cinema. He remembered how ANR used to adhere to director’s demands and co-operate with producers.
Akkineni Nagarjuna talked on behalf of entire family and he expressed his gratitude towards Film Heritage Foundation, NHAI, NDFC for restoring classics of ANR as part of “ANR100:” film festival. He asked fans to enjoy screening of 10 iconic films of ANR during this film festival over the weekend from Sep 20th – 22nd.
He further thanked Indian Government for honouring ANR and his legacy in his centenary year. Nagarjuna announced that on October 28th ANR Award will be felicitated to Megastar Chiranjeevi by Amitabh Bachchan in a grand event.
