Nagarjuna Akkineni

Nagarjuna is facing a tough time in his career as the leading hero. Many of his recent films have been disasters. His last film, Naa Saami Ranga, was satisfactory but not the blockbuster he expected.

Big directors are now focusing on younger stars, leaving little time or scripts for a senior hero like Nagarjuna in a leading role. So, Nagarjuna is changing gears.

According to reports, Nagarjuna is likely to play the main antagonist in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming movie, Coolie.

If true, this is an exciting development. Being part of a Lokesh Kanagaraj film is a smart move for Nagarjuna to stay relevant. Moreover, seeing Rajinikanth face off against Nagarjuna for the first time would be a thrilling spectacle for the audience and a win-win for everyone involved.

He can still do hero roles with new or tier-2 directors, but if he wants to be part of big films with top directors, he needs to choose roles and films where the focus isn’t entirely on him. He will have to share the screen and limelight with other stars.

Nagarjuna is currently filming his next movie with director Sekhar Kammula. The upcoming movie, titled Kubera, stars Dhanush in the lead role with Rashmika Mandanna also being a key addition to the cast.

Kubera is part of Nagarjuna’s strategy to adapt to his career’s current phase. In this film, he will take on a significant role, but the focus will be primarily on Dhanush.

Nagarjuna’s role is expected to align well with his age and stature, showcasing his ability to adapt and contribute meaningfully without being the central hero.
