Nagarjuna has been going through one of the worst phases in his career in the last few years. Except for Bangarraju which was just about a decent fare at the box office, he is grappling with one disaster after another. Now he is coming up with Naa Saami Ranga in the direction of debutant Vijay Binni.
Nagarjuna’s track record with debutants or relatively new directors has been always good. There is a talk in the industry that Nag has an eye for spotting great talent.
In the past, he introduced many filmmakers like Ram Gopal Varma (Shiva), Dasarath (Santosham), Raghava Lawrence (Mass), and Kalyan Krishna (Soggade Chinni Nayana). He also worked with one-film directors like YVS Chowdary (Sitaramaraju) and Krishna Vamsi (Ninne Pelladatha) which turned out to be successful. In fact, Ninne Pelladatha was a rage and trendsetter during the late 90s.
Now Nagarjuna has placed his bet on another new director Vijay Binni. He is basically a choreographer who is known for his unique dance design in films like Run Raja Run (2014), Yevade Subramanyam(2015), Cinema Chupistha Mavaa(2015), Premam(2016), Ekadiki Potavu Chinavada(2016), and Nenu Local(2017).
Nagarjuna seems quite confident that Vijay Binni can pull off a mass film like Naa Saami Ranga. Ashika Ranganath is the leading lady opposite Nagarjuna along with Allari Naresh and Raj Tarun.
Backed by Srinivasa Chitturi of Srinivasaa Silver Screen on a high budget, the movie boasts a script penned by the blockbuster writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada. Scheduled for a grand release on January 14, the film is set to face off against other Sankranthi biggies like “Guntur Kaaram,” “Hanuman,” “Eagle,” and “Saindhav.”
