For Allari Naresh, Ramba Oorvasi Menaka is more than just another comedy outing. It marks his return to a genre that audiences strongly associate with him, while also attempting to deliver its humour through a premise involving the worlds of humans and gods.
At the film’s success meet, director Chandra Mohan described the story in a simple yet effective way. He compared it to the familiar Chandamama tales that remain enjoyable no matter how many times they are revisited.
Producer Razesh Danda looked at the film from a broader perspective. Addressing the argument that comedy has become outdated, he said the audience’s continued affection for older comedy films proves otherwise.
Allari Naresh spoke about the personal pressure he felt before the release. “I did a comedy film after a long time, so naturally I was nervous about the reception. I’m happy with the response now. The film should be approached as fantasy comedy. Since nobody actually knows what heaven or hell looks like, I believe there is little point in applying logic to the proceedings. Just enjoy the comedy.”
Naresh is pleased with the response from B and C centres, while his scenes with senior actor Naresh has emerged as another positive aspect of the film. He recalled Irumudi as an example of how strong word-of-mouth can change a film’s fortunes. “I believe Ramba Oorvasi Menaka is also travelling gradually among audiences and could benefit from the same kind of organic growth.”
Interestingly, the actor revealed that fans and audiences often request a remake of Jambalakidi Pamba. However, he believes some classics are better respected than remade.
