Now that KGF 2 is emerging as a box office monster, people are drawing conclusions that Prashanth Neel‘s next with Prabhas, Salaar will be largely benefited from this film. But that might not entirely be the case. If anything, Allu Arjun might be the biggest beneficiary of KGF 2.
For instance, RRR was Rajamouli‘s immediate next film after the epic Baahubali duology. But if we take a look at RRR’s openings in other languages, it is evident that Baahubali 2’s monstrous success did not necessarily rub on to RRR. The film had did not get off to earth-shattering starts in other languages and gradually picked up later, thanks to good word of mouth.
Taking this into consideration, Salaar might not be entirely benefited from KGF 2’s box office rampage. Meanwhile, KGF 2’s success has hyped up the sequel culture and also raked up the curiosity on South Indian sequels in the Hindi market. Needless to say, the next big sequel from South India is Allu Arjun‘s Pushpa 2.
Pushpa had already reached the mass pockets in Hindi belt with the Srivalli step, and Thaggede Le beard gesture spreading like wildfire. So, KGF 2’s success has built a layer of anticipation on another big-ticket sequel from South Indian cinema, Pushpa 2.
Also, Pushpa 2 has a rustic touch, much like KGF 2 which might also come in handy for the Allu Arjun starrer. That said, Pushpa 2 might not be releasing in theatres for at least another 12 months, so we need to wait and see if it can hold the momentum till then.
