Legendary producer Aswini Dutt’s banner, Vyjayanthi Movies, has issued a notice regarding copyright infringement of their intellectual property, the film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari(JVAS). This announcement has become the talking point within the industry.
The press release affirms Vyjayanthi Movies as the sole owner of the 1990 film directed by K Raghavendra Rao, featuring Chiranjeevi and Sridevi. It asserts its exclusive rights to create derivative works like remakes, sequels, prequels, and web series based on the film, globally and in any language.
Although not explicitly stated, speculations suggest the timing of this notice may serve as a warning to the creators of Mega 157, an upcoming film starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, produced by UV Creations and directed by Bimbisara fame Vashista. This upcoming movie is described as a mythological socio-fantasy on the lines of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari.
UV Creations seems to have gotten into some unwanted controversies. Recently eyebrows were raised when they decided to co-produce the controversial biopic Yatra 2. Now Aswini Dutt’s banner giving indirect warning to UV creations over JVAS’ copyrights is another jolt to their banner.
