Outright Rejection: Not Even Expenses Recovered

Bellamkonda-Sai-Sreeninvas-ChatrapathiJust because the Hindi audience are watching Telugu films at an encouraging rate, it doesn’t mean they will watch everything that is thrown their way. Bellamkonda Srinivas got to learn it the hard way.

Bellamkonda’s latest film, the Hindi remake of Chatrapathi released on the 12th of May.

The film was outrightly shunned by the critics and the audience too didn’t even bother to give it a try. As a result, the film has opened on a disastrous note at the box office.

Chatrapathi has collected a mere Rs 50 lakh nett on its opening day. This won’t even cover the publicity and promotions cost.

The makers will hardly recover the release expense at this rate. This will go down as one of the biggest loss ventures in recent times.

Bellamkonda was optimistic about making a mark for himself in Hindi but this backfired at a shocking rate. His films might get better openings in the Telugu states, as compared to what Chatrapathi has done in the vast Hindi market.
