BJP Retains Maha, Hung Looms on Haryana

Amit-Shah-Narendra-Modi-The election results of Maharashtra and Harayana Assemblies are currently underway. BJP has got a mixed result. The party is going to retain power in Maharashtra while Haryana is moving towards a hung Assembly. The coalition of BJP and Shiv Sena has gone past the halfway mark.

However, the government will be dependent on Shiv Sena’s support unless BJP breaks the party or brings Sharad Pawar’s NCP to its fold. In Haryana, both BJP and Congress are unlikely to reach the halfway mark and the support of JJP may become crucial here.

Congress is likely to offer the Chief Minister Post to JJP to prevent BJP from coming to power. It looks like another Kumaraswamy like scenario here. It is clear that both sides will start their horse-trading with Independents also winning a substantial number of seats.

Given that the Congress is still in the shock of recent Parliament Elections defeat, we can conclude that the party has delivered a decent performance. Analysts have expected a complete rout of the party in both these states.
