Hyderabad residents are falling prey to a new scam involving bogus ticket bookings for movies. Fraudsters use social media platforms like Twitter to claim they have tickets for upcoming shows, offering them at discounted rates to interested buyers.
However, once the tickets are purchased, the buyers receive fake screenshots, and upon reaching the theaters, they discover they have been scammed. These scammers block the victims after the transaction.
Recently, an official from Prasads Multiplex posted on Twitter, “Please check 3–4 times before purchasing tickets with an unknown person. I’ve seen a number of bogus bookings for many recently released movies, so please double-check before purchasing.”
To avoid ticket scams, never buy tickets without a verifiable booking link. Always ask for the official link from the theater or booking website, not just screenshots. This precaution ensures legitimacy and prevents falling victim to fraudsters.
