BookMyShow ticket sales for premieres and Day 1 have become an important indicator of audience excitement around big films. These numbers show how strong the demand is before word of mouth starts affecting the box office.
A recent compilation on social media lists the biggest films in terms of BookMyShow Premiere + Day 1 ticket sales. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to sit comfortably at the top, while Yash’s Toxic is the new entrant into the Top 10 with more than 25 lakh sales, beating Jailer.
Here is the current leaderboard:
1. Pushpa 2: The Rule – 46.8 lakh
2. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge – 41.06 lakh
3. Coolie – 32.69 lakh
4. Leo – 30.57 lakh
5. Spider-Man: Brand New Day – 29.07 lakh
6. Kalki 2898 AD – 28.73 lakh
7. Jawan – 27.46 lakh
8. Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire – 27.05 lakh
9. Toxic – 25.85 lakh
10. Jailer – 23.29 lakh
11. Kantara Chapter 1 – 21.92 lakh
12. Animal – 21.58 lakh
13. Devara – 19.09 lakh
14. Jana Nayagan – 18.07 lakh
15. The GOAT – 17.50 lakh
16. Empuraan – 17.16 lakh
The numbers clearly show the dominance of South Indian cinema. Pushpa 2 leads the chart by a huge margin, proving the extraordinary nationwide demand for Allu Arjun and the Pushpa franchise.
Dhurandhar 2 is the biggest challenger, crossing 41 lakh tickets and showing that a Hindi film can compete with the biggest South Indian blockbusters, but only when the star, director and content create the right buzz. Jawan’s presence proves that in Bollywood, only Shah Rukh Khan has the stardom to give some fight to pan-India stars with a standalone film.
Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Jailer, Vijay’s Leo and GOAT, Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar, and Yash’s Toxic also occupy prominent positions. Hollywood has a strong presence too, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day reaching the top five.
The list also shows how much the opening-day game has changed. Crossing 15-20 lakh tickets is now possible for top star vehicles, while entering the 30-lakh club remains extremely difficult.
With better word of mouth, Toxic could have easily entered the Top 5.
BMS numbers do not represent the entire box office because offline bookings, other ticketing platforms and single-screen business are not fully captured. Still, they provide a clear picture of advance demand, particularly in urban and multiplex markets.
