Though the Government of India has given permissions for reopening theatres, it was left to the State governments to decide as per the prevailing situations. However, only very few theatres in Andhra Pradesh could open the theatres.
In Telangana, rains created such disaster that there was no possibility of thinking of reopening even. The maintenance of theatres with only limited occupancy is going to be a burden for the owners, financially.
In AP, PVP chain of theatres just did an experiment opening it theatres with its staff being the audiences. However, it’s clear that the film goers might not throng to theatres given the insecure COVID situation still lingering on our heads.
So, there is gloom regarding day-one box-office situation with no excitement among the audiences to come to theatres and no excitement among the theatre owners as they have pending bills and taxes piled up for this lockdown period.
