Tollywood Matches Bollywood This Week!

Madgaon Express Om Bheem Bush

This week marked the release of Sree Vishnu’s “Om Bheem Bush” in Telugu and Farhan Akhtar’s “Madgaon Express” in Hindi.

Both films are comedy films spearheaded by three heroes. Both films lack logic, both films are genuinely funny in parts, and both films have got decent reviews from the audience and critics. The similarity doesn’t stop there, both films have sadly underperformed at the box office.

Despite its entertaining content and favorable reviews, “Om Bheem Bush” concluded its first weekend on a rather average note. While the second and third days showed improvement in collections, the film needs to maintain its pace and capitalize on the Holi holidays to break even.

The crucial first weekend in the U.S. wrapped up with around $300K, marking a rather very ordinary performance thus far.

On the other hand, “Madgaon Express” received decent reviews, with audiences and critics appreciating Bollywood’s return to delivering a quality comedy.

With original & hilarious one-liners, crazy performances, and a decently engaging screenplay, the film promises an enjoyable experience. However, its box office performance remains lackluster.

Despite the Buy-One-Get-One offer, the film collected only 7.5 crores net during its first weekend. The worldwide gross would be somewhere around 13 crores, similar to Om Bheem Bush.

The film needs to pick up pace and maintain collections above its first day to end up with some respectable total.

It’s a curious coincidence that two comedy films from Tollywood and Bollywood featuring three heroes, boasting decent content, were released simultaneously and experienced similar box office outcomes.
