Andhra Pradesh Capital Controversy now reached the Supreme Court after a person from Vijayawada filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the apex court. The complainant stated in his petition that setting the capital in crop yielding lands is a violation of human rights.
He stated that capital on the bank of Krishna river will spoil the ecological balance. He also brought to the notice of the court that it is not safe to construct the capital in the area prone to floods. We will have to see how Supreme Court reacts on this case. If the Apex Court refused to interfere in the issue and then there will be no stopping to Andhra Pradesh government’s plan!
On the other side, CRDA is busy taking the possession of lands from farmers who have given the consent letters in the land pooling. The leveling of land also began in some villages. CRDA is distributing the first year compensation cheques to the farmers. It is known that government had managed to pool in more than 32000 acres from the farmers in the land pooling.
