Due to efficient anti-smuggling activities undertaken by Chandrababu Naidu government, Red Sanders smuggling in the state came down significantly. The smuggling was to the tune of Rs 3,300 crores in 2011-14 but got reduced to a mere 100 Crore this year.

The Police managed to nab as many as 496 smugglers, including nine international smugglers this year. They have also seized 73.99 tons of red sanders and 73 vehicles from smugglers.
The state government estimates that red sanders worth about Rs 25,000 crores was smuggled to foreign countries in the last 15 years. After coming to power, Naidu’s government also auctioning the seized logs to make money.
