Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Bhola Shankar is turning out to be a disaster. The situation is such that it couldn’t even recover around 30 crore rupees in its full run. This means that it’s a bigger disaster than Acharya.
Producer Anil Sunkara’s career is always shaky. After the failure of the big-budget movie ‘Agent’, Anil found success with a small film “Samajavaragamana.” After that, a small film “Hidimbha” got him an okay result with non-theatrical rights despite theatrical failure.
But now, Anil faced another setback with Bhola Shankar. Except for Vizag and West, the movie was practically not sold any where. Anil had to opt for own release the film everywhere, including Nizam, Overseas, Krishna, Guntur, and East Godavari.
Until this point, Anil had to blame his own fate for this because he is the only who set the combination. But then, Chiranjeevi also brought more trouble for Anil, according to the rumors in Filmnagar.
Chiranjeevi quoted around 65 crores remuneration for the film and insisted on clearing it before the release. With the film making no business, Anil had to pledge properties like plots in Shadnagar and Suryapet, and his luxurious house in Hyderabad to clear Chiranjeevi’s remuneration.
He even requested Chiranjeevi to keep the satellite rights for a certain amount in the remuneration but the Megastar did not agree. The legal issue with ‘Agent’ also made things complicated.
“If not for Anil as the producer, the movie would not have released on August 11th,” Industry people say.
In addition, there’s another twist to the story. Anil got an offer of around 16-17 crores from Nizam. But Chiranjeevi did not allow. “Waltair Veerayya collected around 33 crores, it would be an insult if you sell the film for less than half of Veerayya’s amount,” Chiranjeevi said to Anil.
Anil Sunkara had to release the movie on his own in Nizam too. Currently, the situation is such that Bholaa is unlikely to collect even 10 crores of share from Nizam.
It is difficult even to imagine the situation of producers in the industry if this is the position of a producer who made a film with Chiranjeevi.
