Megastar Chiranjeevi has congratulated Ravi Teja and the entire team of Irumudi for the film’s phenomenal success. He also made a broader statement that has caught the attention of industry circles. “The industry belongs to everyone, not just a few. We have to survive and let everyone survive.”
On the surface, it is a simple message about unity and healthy competition in the film industry. But the timing has led to different interpretations.
Some believe Chiranjeevi’s comments were indirectly aimed at the Toxic distribution situation in the Telugu states. Irumudi is enjoying a phenomenal run, but the arrival of Yash’s Toxic has created a major theatre allocation battle, particularly in Nizam. Toxic has a massive distribution setup through Dil Raju’s SVC, while Irumudi is being distributed by Mythri Movie Makers.
There is another interpretation as well.
Some feel Chiranjeevi was simply making a general point that every film should get its share of space, including Toxic. KVN Productions and SVC have made a major investment in the film, so they need enough theatres to recover their money. At the same time, Irumudi is performing exceptionally well and deserves to retain screens based on audience demand.
So, was Chiranjeevi sending a message to the Irumudi and Toxic distributors? Or was he taking the side of Irumudi or KVN, with whom he has a film coming up, Kaaka, in January 2027? Or was he simply saying that there should be space for every film to survive?
Only Chiranjeevi knows what he really meant. But given the current Irumudi vs Toxic theatre battle, his words have certainly come at an interesting time.
