Toxic’s Big Entry Fails to Shake Irumudi

Toxic vs Irumudi box office

Toxic has arrived with a bang at the box office. Yash’s much-awaited film has delivered a massive opening, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark across India on Day 1, according to early estimates. The strong start shows the star power Yash continues to command after the KGF franchise.

But in the Telugu States, Irumudi appears to be holding its ground despite the arrival of such a big release. Ravi Teja’s film is still recording strong occupancy, with the latest Day 6 estimates putting its India net at around Rs 10.20 crore. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana continue to be the film’s strongest markets.

The biggest advantage for Irumudi is its family appeal. While Toxic is positioned as a darker gangster action film and has received mixed reactions, Irumudi has connected better with family audiences. That is helping the film retain its audience even after losing screens and shows to Toxic.

This is where the Telugu market could behave differently from the national box office. Toxic may have the bigger opening and much wider reach, but Irumudi has already established a strong base with the Telugu audience.

So far, Toxic has not made the expected impact on Irumudi in the Telugu States, as families continue to prefer Ravi Teja’s film. If that trend holds through the weekend, Irumudi could have a much stronger second week than initially expected.
