Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka: Glimpse Builds Hype, Poster Kills It?

Chiranjeevi Kaaka first-look poster and glimpse

The 2027 Sankranthi race has now become more interesting with Chiranjeevi entering the battle.

Chiranjeevi’s 158th film with director Bobby Kolli has been titled Kaaka. The makers released a nearly three-minute mass glimpse on Chiranjeevi’s birthday and also announced a January 13 worldwide theatrical release.

The glimpse has created decent curiosity around the film. It gives an intriguing look at the mass world Bobby is creating and has given Mega fans something to celebrate. But the poster released with the video has received a very different response.

For many fans, the poster has actually become a hype killer. Chiranjeevi’s look in the poster has faced some backlash even from hardcore fans for not having the heroic appeal expected from the Megastar. Some fans feel he looks more like a character artist like say Murali Sharma than the main hero of a big Sankranthi film.

When a Megastar’s first major poster is released, fans expect a powerful look and a larger-than-life image. Instead, the Kaaka poster has left many fans wondering how it was approved in the first place.

The video glimpse, however, appears to have done its job. It has created curiosity about the film, Bobby Kolli’s mass treatment and Chiranjeevi’s character. The video created the hype. The poster nearly killed it.

There is also an interesting Sankranthi battle within the Mega family. Sai Durgha Tej has already announced Sambarala Yeti Gattu for January 12, 2027. Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka is arriving just a day later, on January 13.

This means uncle and nephew could face a big box office clash. Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram’s January 12 Vidudala with Anil Ravipudi, Sharwanand’s George Krish with Sreenu Vaitla and other projects are also reportedly targeting the festival.

Chiranjeevi and Bobby Kolli still have enough time to build the Kaaka hype before Sankranthi. But promotional material matters, especially during such a crowded season. The glimpse has created curiosity. Now the team needs to make sure its next assets actually build the hype instead of killing it.
