Comrade Kalyan: Director Missed This Balayya Logic?

Comrade Kalyan Balakrishna Fan Scene

The Comrade Kalyan trailer has a funny Balakrishna fan moment, but there seems to be a small logic issue hiding in the scene. The question is whether director Janakiram Marella deliberately wrote it that way for comedy or simply missed the film chronology.

Radhika Sarathkumar plays a hardcore Balakrishna fan. During the release of Top Hero, she gets into a fight after another person criticises the film, and she even breaks a bottle on his head. She is taken to the police station, where she is told that she could face seven years in jail.

But her biggest concern is something else. She says she wants to watch Balakrishna‘s upcoming films before going to jail, mentioning Bobbili Simham and Bhairava Dweepam. That is where the chronology becomes questionable.

The actual release order was Bhairava Dweepam first on April 14, 1994, followed by Bobbili Simham on September 23, 1994, and Top Hero on December 9, 1994. So if the scene is happening on the release day of Top Hero, both films mentioned as upcoming had already been released.

That becomes more noticeable because Radhika’s character is not just a casual Balakrishna admirer. She is being presented as an extreme fan whose entire scene revolves around her obsession with his films. When writing such a character, the director should at least get the release order of the star’s films right. Otherwise, the very fan character created for comedy can quickly become troll material.

Of course, the trailer does not make it clear whether this was an intentional joke. The makers may have deliberately written the dialogue this way as part of the character’s comedy. But unless there is some explanation in the film, it looks like a simple chronology slip.

For now, it leaves an interesting question around the trailer: Did the director intentionally make this Balayya fan get the film order wrong, or did the makers simply miss the logic?
