Telugu cinema has been consistently rolling out films, which have been grossing in the range of Rs 1000 crore. But when it comes to Tamil cinema, this kind of box office impetus has been lacking.
Not a single Tamil film has managed to collect over Rs 1000 crore gross till now.

Now there is a discussion in Tamil cinema that their more prospective film Coolie which marks the coming together of Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj will be the film to do it for them.
The expectation now is that Coolie will be the film that breaks open this market for the Tamil cinema fraternity.

The film has Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Aamir Khan in important roles. While Rajini is the obvious star player, here who will hold fort in Tamil, other mentioned actors could add impetus in their own languages.
Market twice, Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has made sure that the film has enough appeal for all language audiences. He has provided something in it for multiple languages.

But at the end of the day, the Telugu audience will play a significant role if this film is too realistically, have the dream of achieving rupees thousand crore at the box office.
The Telugu market must add at least rupees hundred crore gross if the film is to have a real chance at a potential Rs 1000 crore worldwide gross.
Subsequently, a lot will depend on the Hindi folk as well. They will have to contribute at least Rs 300 crore or so for the film to have a good shot. Will this be made possible with the presence of Aamir Khan? Only time will tell.
