As the box office battle between War 2 and Coolie intensifies ahead of their grand release, both films have secured their digital rights in a major deal. Rajinikanth’s much-awaited action thriller Coolie has been creating huge buzz with impressive pre-release hype and strong ticket sales.
Touted as one of the most anticipated films in the Tamil industry, it is being talked about as a potential first Tamil film to hit the 1000-crore mark at the box office.
Challenging this massive wave is War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, with both stars actively promoting their high-octane action entertainer. With both productions mounted on large budgets and carrying strong audience expectations, the competition is expected to heat up at the box office this Independence Day.
While the theatrical release will see a direct face-off, the digital space will not witness such a clash. Amazon Prime Video has acquired the streaming rights for both films and will release them after their theatrical run.
Although Prime Video has often drawn criticism for initially offering films on a rental basis, there is speculation that it may alter this approach for these high-profile titles.
