There are many heroines from other languages making their debut into Telugu Film Industry who don’t know even the basic pronunciation of the language. By default, the hero of their debut film becomes their language teacher, helping them to pronounce the words properly.
Nani’s comment seems to hold good but that’s how a newcomer gets trained and starts to learn the language. Meher isn’t the first non-Telugu heroine to start learning Telugu with the help of her co-stars. Charmee, Rakul Preet Singh, Raashi Khanna, Regina and many other young heroines began the same way.
