In one of the most ambitious projects announced at the Cannes Film Market, actor Dhanush is all set to step into the shoes of India’s most beloved scientist and former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
The biopic, titled Kalam: The Missile Man of India, promises to take audiences through the extraordinary life of a man who rose from humble beginnings to become a national icon.

Directed by Om Raut—best known for Tanhaji—the film is expected to be a powerful mix of inspiration, science, and emotion. The screenplay has been written by Saiwyn Quadras, the writer behind Neerja and Maidaan.
While Om Raut’s last film Adipurush was heavily criticized for its execution, the makers believe in his vision and see that film as a rare blunder. With Kalam, they’re confident he will create a meaningful tribute to one of India’s greatest minds.

The film will trace Kalam’s life journey—from his early days in Rameswaram to his role in shaping India’s missile programs, and finally, to becoming the 11th President of India.
It draws inspiration from Kalam’s bestselling autobiography Wings of Fire, which has influenced generations of young Indians.
